In this article, we'll set out the end-to-end steps to create, manage, share, and report Instructor-led training. Attached to the end of this article you'll also find the key learning points for Instructor-led training, taken directly from the 'Instructor-led training 101' Course in The Academy - if you're new to Events in Learn, check it out for the full picture for creating, sharing, managing and reporting Events.
We'll cover how to:
Create the learning
First, you'll need to create the learning. Follow the steps below to create Instructor-led learning, ready to share with your people.
- Create an Instructor-led Lesson
- Create an Event
- Assign an evaluation form to the Event
- Set the properties for the Event
- Create a Course
- Assign the Lesson to the Course
If you're new to building Courses in Learn, take a look at the 'Course builder flow chart' in The Academy. This one-page job aid will guide you through all the essential steps to build and share Courses, including the easy to forget step of assignments.
Share the learning
So your Course is ready, now it's time share it with your people, as either mandatory or optional learning. To make the learning mandatory for your people:
Steps to make the learning optional for your people:
- Create a Catalogue
- Assign the Course to the Catalogue
- Create a Group
- Add a User to the Group
- Assign the Catalogue to the Group
Book places on the Event
Depending on the content, learners may self-select the Event. Alternatively a booking can be made for them:
- Empower managers to book and manage Events for their team
- Book multiple learners into a single Event
- Book a single learner onto multiple Events
Prepare for and manage the Event
Keep track of attendance, and assuming you've reached the minimum numbers to proceed:
- Print a register of Event attendees
- Update attendance for the Event
- View the Event Evaluation report
Learner notifications
Learners can be sent a number of different notifications through the booking process. LMS administrators can switch individual templates on and off and edit the wording of email templates as required. View 'Messages and notifications 101' for more details.
