In this article we'll explain the main uses of the CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Report.
In Learn, an Administrator can create and assign CPD Programmes to Users. These are timebound assignments which entail the User gaining a pre-set number of CPD points or hours.
The CPD Report provides the following:
- A high-level dashboard showing overall completion numbers
- One-click exploration of who has – and has not – completed their CPD assignments
- A monthly timeline of CPD by completion over the past 365 days with drill-through
- The option to look at detailed information down at individual user and individual CPD learning activity level*
*This can help you analyse what activities your people are doing to attain their CPD. It can also show which CPD lessons are less popular.
Summary level CPD reporting
How does CPD work in Learn?
Typically, there is an overall target value which must be met. Additionally, there may be a subset of those overall target hours which are known as ‘accredited’ CPD. They will have their own target. For example, an overall target might be to achieve 16 hours of CPD learning activity, but 4 hours of that may have to be accredited CPD.
Finally, an Administrator can also set some CPD learning as mandatory. This means that to achieve their CPD, a user must complete all the mandatory lessons. Even if the User has already surpassed their overall CPD target, they won’t be deemed to have achieved their CPD unless all the mandatory CPD lessons have been done.

How often does the reports database refresh?
- The report database refresh twice a day
- A time stamp showing the most recent database refresh is shown in every fixed report
- The 'database refresh' timestamp can also be added to a user-created report
- Each Dataset is refreshed individually, so the time stamp may differ between reports using different Datasets
- Where a fixed report and a user-created report are built using the same dataset, the time stamp will be the same
