Administrators can assign CPD values - measured in hours or points - to any qualifying Lesson.
Users are given CPD targets (hours or points) to achieve within a CPD period. As they complete Lessons with assigned CPD values, their progress is automatically recorded in their CPD learning record.
Every Lesson included in a CPD period must have a defined value (hours or points). Assigning these values ensures that users receive the correct CPD credits upon completion. If a Lesson does not have a CPD value, no credits will be awarded, even if the Lesson is finished.
Steps to configure CPD values for a Lesson
- Browse to the 'CPD programme' area of Learn admin:
- Select the name of a CPD Programme that needs to have CPD values configured
- Select ‘CPD Period’ from the administration menu:
- Select the CPD period from the list that needs to be configured
- Select 'Lesson' from the administration menu options to show all currently assigned Lessons:
- Select ‘Edit’ next to a Lesson that required CPD values to be configured:
- Configure the information for the Lesson such as Value, Accredited, Mandatory and Record Time
- 'Value' - the hours/points value accrued on completion of the Lesson:
- 'Accredited' - If the Lesson contributes to the Accredited portion of the CPD
- 'Mandatory' - If the Lesson is a mandatory part of the CPD period
- 'Record Time' – the option will show when the Lesson type is eLearning only, and where CPD target is in hours:
- Select ‘Update’ to save the changes
More about the 'Record Time' option
When setting CPD values for eLearning Lessons, you can choose Record time. This option credits the User with the actual time spent on the Lesson rather than a fixed duration. The system calculates this based on the total hours (including partial hours) the User spends actively engaging with the Lesson.
For example:
- If a User spends 1 hour, the recorded value will be 1.00
- If a User spends 1 hour and 40 minutes, the recorded value will be 1.66 (rounded to two decimal places)
