In this article, we'll show what to do if your eLearning vendor supplies AICC links to the content you require. We'll explain how to set up your content so it reports correctly to Learn LMS and your learners can get the content they need.
When eLearning content is published as a file to upload, it's a familiar process – publish, upload, and share with your people.
AICC, on the other hand, can involve no direct content upload to the LMS. AICC content can be hosted on the vendors site - and Learn simply hosts a link to the learning. Through this link, Users can gain access to the learning, and the learning can communicate with Learn. As with SCORM eLearning, AICC content communicates the Lesson Status, score, and date of completion to Learn.
Typically, a AICC eLearning package might communicate to Learn, any of the following status pairs:
- Passed/Incomplete
- Passed/Failed
- Completed/Incomplete
- Completed/Failed
Steps to set up AICC content in Learn LMS
- Navigate to the Lesson area of Learn admin:
- Select 'New' to create a new Lesson
- Select the type 'eLearning':
- Populate the mandatory fields - Code, Title, and Duration
- Select 'Submit' to create the Lesson
- Select 'eLearning set up' from the administration menu
- Change the tracking type to 'AICC':
- Populate the 'URL field', with the URL supplied by the content vendor
- Populate the 'Parameters field' with the parameters supplied by the content vendor
- Select 'Submit' to save
Your lesson is now set up and ready to go. The next step will likely be to assign the Lesson to a Course, in order that you can share the learning with your people.
Note: We recommend that you assign the Course to yourself before sharing with your people. For example to check for typos, and consistency. View the 3 tips for Course and Lesson descriptions article for tips to ensure consistency in your LMS.
Using ELFH content?
ELFH (eLearning for health) usually provide the AICC link as follows:https://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/AICC/InitialiseRelay?CONTENT_URL=/AICC_Content/SMT_01_005
The URL is always the first part: https://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/AICC/InitialiseRelay
The second part is required for the 'parameters' field,i.e. CONTENT_URL=/AICC_Content/SMT_01_005
