In this article, we'll show how to import and share a video with your people. Video is a great format for grabbing your learners attention, and is consistently proven to be one of the most preferred ways to learn. We'll show how to import a video to Learn LMS, ready to share with your people. Video lessons can added to Elective lesson sets, Courses, and Accreditations. Note that SCORM, PDF, XLS, PPT and Word files can also be imported.

Steps to import and share a video
- From Learn admin, browse to the Lesson area:
- Select New' to create a new Lesson
- Select the Lesson type 'Video':
- Populate the mandatory fields: Lesson code, Lesson title, and Lesson duration
- When all mandatory fields are complete, select 'Submit' to save the changes and create the Lesson. The Lesson is now created. The next step is to upload a video for the Lesson
- Select 'Video Set-up' from the Lesson Administration menu:
- By default, the 'Percentage of video that must be watched' field shows 0%. Set the required percentage (e.g., 90%) for completion. If a user watches this much, the Lesson will be marked complete; otherwise, it stays as 'In progress'.
- If needed, toggle on 'Enable review mode option.' This allows users who finished the Lesson to review it without restarting.
- Select 'Choose file,' select the MP4 or MOV video:
- Select 'Submit' to start the import.
- Wait for Learn LMS to upload and encode the video. The video won't be available until this process completes
Digital content often changes over time – perhaps to update branding, correct a typo, or more significant changes, for example, to account for new/updated regulatory requirements. Take a look at the 'What to do when eLearning content changes' article to see recommended steps for each likely scenario.
Further settings for video Lessons
Review mode |
Activate review mode and learners will be able to revisit the content without having to repeat everything |
Set a minimum percent of the video that must be watched |
Specify the minimum percent of the video that must be watched to achieve a 'Complete' status. Where a percent is specified:
|
Add DRM protection |
You can choose to add DRM copy protection to your video. This adds additional security for your Intellectual Property but prevents the imagery and audio from the video being shared by your people. If this is applied then screen sharing of this video will not be possible. (13/11/23) - there is a current issue which results in this not working on Chrome. Edge is working as expected. |
Closed captions |
Closed captions will also be added to all newly uploaded videos. This helps with accessibility and also helps with information retention and engagement. The system auto-detects the language and adds closed captions in that language. A list of supported languages for this is shown at the end of this article. Closed captions can be turned off - for all video Lessons - at Settings | Video and eLearning. |
Supported languages for closed caption detection:
