What is a Skill profile?
It’s a flexible way to group Skills in a way that makes sense for L&D teams. These skill profiles are then assigned to groups, giving users a personalised Skills profile with their assigned Skills and access to relevant content tagged to those Skills. View Create and edit a Skills profile for more information.
Is AI used to help create Skill profiles?
Yes, when you create a Skills profile, Ai can suggest Skills. It's in development to support suggestions for Skills that don't belong in your library to complement both lenses. We are actively working on adding AI to suggest Skills from a customer's framework when creating a profile. View Create skills using Ai for more information.
Will the name of a Skill profile be visible to Users?
Yes, this will appear on a learner’s Skills profile to provide context on where the Skill came from and why it is relevant. Admins should be mindful of naming conventions to ensure clarity for users.
Can you assign a Skills profile to just one user?
No, Skill profiles can only be assigned to Groups. However, individual Skills can be assigned directly to users if needed. Alternatively, a single User can be added to a Group. View Assign Skills directly to a User to see how.
Can users have more than one profile assigned to them?
Yes, there is no limit on how many profiles can be assigned to someone. If a skill belongs to more than one profile it will only display once to the user but show all profiles it is associated with.
What is a General Skill?
This is a skill that has been assigned directly to a user and not through a skill profile.
Can I add levels and targets to a Skill profile?
Yes, see How to set up skill levels and Setting skill level targets for more information.
Is there a cap on how many Skills can be added to a profile?
No, there is no limit, as we want to give customers full flexibility in how they use Skills. However, the more Skills included in a profile, the greater the demand on content requirements, users' time, and performance conversations. We recommend being mindful of the balance between assigning Skills within a profile and allowing individuals to add Skills themselves over time (which is on the roadmap).
If I delete a skill from a profile will that remove it from all users?
Yes, for technical reasons, we have decided to maintain a simple skill-to-user relationship. However, we plan to enhance this in the future.
If I delete a profile will that remove it from all users?
Yes, for technical reasons, we have decided to maintain a simple skill-to-user relationship. However, we plan to enhance this in the future.
Can I see all the Skills assigned to a user either directly or through a profile?
Yes. There will be Power BI reporting that supports this, but an admin can also navigate to a user, and there is a new Skills tab where they can see all Skills assigned and where they came from.
What content will be recommended on a skill profile?
Any content tagged with a skill will be included. Currently, only courses will be recommended if they contain a lesson tagged with that skill. As we introduce skill levels, we plan to enhance recommendations to suggest content that helps boost a Skill to the next level, though this is yet to be confirmed on the roadmap.
Can more Skills be added to skill profiles?
Yes, when new Skills are added to a profile, they will automatically be assigned to all users in the groups linked to that profile. However, please note that users will not receive a notification when a new skill is assigned to them.
Does everyone have to have a Skills profile?
No, a user will only see their personalised Skills profile once at least one skill has been assigned to them, either through a Skill profile or direct assignment. We strongly advise against organisations attempting to create fully customised skill profiles for all employees from the outset.
Can you tag a Skill with a business area to show it belongs to them?
If this were possible, it would mean that Skills would be duplicated between different libraries, and that could create confusion. Instead, Skills are organised into Skill Profiles. A Skill profile can then be assigned to the respective Business area. A Skill can appear in multiple Skill Profiles.
