Creating Skills Profiles can be time-consuming, as identifying every required skill for each department or role is challenging. AI can simplify this process by providing smart skill suggestions, reducing the need for extensive consultations, and enabling you to build effective Skills Profiles more efficiently.
When AI suggestions are enabled, simply create a new Skill profile and select the option to use AI to suggest relevant Skills from your existing skills taxonomy. Learn will take care of the rest.
In this article, we'll cover:
- How to enable AI suggestions for Skill profiles
- How do AI suggestions work?

How to enable AI suggestions for Skill profiles
- Browse to Learn admin
- Select Skills Library:
- Switch the 'Use AI to help me...' toggle to On. The toggle will only be available when Skills have been added to your Learn LMS:
Note this will also enable the ability to use AI to bulk tag Lessons with Skills.
How do AI suggestions work?
When the AI Skills toggle is enabled, the AI will automatically suggest relevant skills from your existing Skill library when you create a Skills Profile. You can quickly add these suggested skills or ignore them and manually select your own.
You can remove Skills at any time, whether they were added manually or suggested by AI. However, removing a Skill from a profile will also remove it from all Users assigned to that profile.
If you enable the AI capability after creating Skills Profiles, the AI will analyse the existing Skills and suggest additional relevant ones where appropriate.
What AI technology is being used?
Our feature uses Azure OpenAI technology, with strict safeguards in place to protect your data privacy. Your skills library and skill profile title are the only data used to generate recommendations. The AI does not look at user details or other data in Learn. No Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is shared with Azure OpenAI.
Once this AI feature is enabled, we will pre-process this information by converting it into vector embeddings, which allow the system to measure the relevance of skills recommendations. This process is automatically triggered whenever a skill is added, deleted, or edited, ensuring that recommendations remain accurate and up to date.
Importantly, the model does not retain, learn from, or make any information available to other users. Your data is exclusively used for generating responses within your own environment and is not stored or shared externally.
