In this article, we'll explore the learner view of Learn LMS and outline key areas and features that enable learners to discover, track, and record their development.
We'll show how learners can:
- See an overview of learning activity
- Track learning progress in detail
- Create playlists, share, and recommend with peers
- Record learning completed outside the platform
See an overview of learning activity
The homepage acts as a central hub for accessing learning and tracking progress. At the top of the page, promoted courses are displayed. These are personalised recommendations designed to highlight relevant learning opportunities.
Below this, a series of panels provides a high-level overview of learning activity:
- Mandatory learning â required training assigned to the user
- Optional learning â courses the user has chosen to engage with
- Accreditations â recurring training with defined expiry cycles
- Event bookings â any upcoming sessions the user is registered for
Recommended learning is also presented, supporting ongoing development through tailored suggestions.
Track learning progress in detail
The âMy Learningâ area provides a detailed view of an individual userâs learning status within the platform. Within this area, learners can:
- View all mandatory and optional Courses and Pathways
- See the status of mandatory training, including what is up to date, overdue, or expiring soon
- Continue any learning that has been started but not yet completed
- Access upcoming event bookings, including links to join online sessions
- View and review completed learning activity
Create playlists, share, and recommend with peers
From the All Learning page, learners can access available optional learning organised into catalogues - curated collections that function like brochures, enabling users to browse and select content that meets their needs.Â
Here, learners can:
- Browse optional learning through curated catalogues
- Create playlists to save courses for later
- Share or recommend courses to colleagues via message or link
- Participate in course discussions to support knowledge sharing
Record learning completed outside the platform
Learn also supports recording development activities completed outside the system. Through the âAdd My Learningâ feature, users can log external learning, such as:
- Podcasts
- Webinars
- Conferences
- Coaching
- Mentoring
- Personal reflections
This functionality ensures that all learning activity is captured in one place, providing a more complete view of development and supporting informed discussions between team members and their managers.
