In this article, we'll explain the steps to set up skill level targets for your learners. Skill level targets allow you to define the level of proficiency a learner should aim to achieve for a particular skill, helping to guide development and track progress.
Once set up, learners can request for their skill levels to be increased, or you can set up automatic skill boosting, so that their skills will automatically increase upon completion of a lesson or competency check.
Things to note about setting skill level targets:
- Skill targets can be set depending on how the skill has been assigned - though a skill profile, or directly to a Learner as a General skill.
- Every skill target level will by default be set to the lowest available level. This is 'Achieved' by default, or your custom level 1.
- A skill that is linked to multiple skill profiles can have different target levels for each profile
- If a user is assigned to the same skill across multiple profiles, the highest target level for that skill will apply to that user
Setting a skill level target through a skill profile
- Navigate to Skills
- Select Skills profiles
- Select a profile
- Select the Actions button on the skill
- Select Edit Target Level
-
Update the skill to the desired target level and select Save.
Note: This will only update the target level for that skill within the selected skill profile.
Setting a skill level target for a General skill (assigned directly to the Learner)
- Navigate to Users
- Select User
- Select the user and select Skills
- Select the Actions button on the skill
- Select Edit Target Level.
-
Update the skill to the desired target level and select Save.
Note: You can only update target levels from the user view for general skills. For skills assigned through a skill profile, the target level must be updated within the relevant skill profile.
