In this article, we’ll show you how to set up Reflection forms in your Learn platform so you can help learners evidence their engagement with the learning process. What are Reflection forms used for?
Reflection forms are designed to help learners critically assess and document their learning experiences. Rather than simply recording completed training, these forms prompt users to consider what they’ve learnt, how it applies to their professional context, and what actions they might take as a result.
This is particularly valuable in regulated sectors - such as legal, financial, and insurance industries - where compliance often involves demonstrating meaningful engagement with learning. For example, in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scenarios, professionals may need to provide reflective evidence of their learning rather than just hours logged.
The Reflection forms in Learn provide a standardised format to support these requirements. There is also a specialised version for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Note that the forms are not customisable due to their structured nature.
How to enable Reflection forms
- Navigate to Learn Admin
- From the Feedback menu, select Reflections
- Toggle on Reflection Forms, SRA Reflection Forms, or both depending on which types of reflection you want to make available.
- Select the All users group, or designate a specific group that the form should be limited to.
What do Reflection forms look like for Learners?
Once enabled, the relevant learners will see the option to Add a reflection in the Add my Learning tab.
Reflections for Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
If using Reflections for Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), you may need to create a specific group to control who has access to these. SRA reflections will automatically take priority over standard reflections for users in that group, so you can still assign the standard Reflection Form to All users without affecting those set to use the SRA version.
Learners will see the option to Add an SRA reflection in the Add my Learning tab.
