In this article, we'll explain how to create a custom rating scale to use in a review template.
Perform is supplied with a default rating scale, which can be used to rate objectives in an Overview of objectives section, or any Number scale question added to a Step Section by a Perform Administrator.
Step Sections offer considerable flexibility for creating your own custom questions, and where that's the case, it's likely a custom scale will also be needed.
A few things to know about custom rating scales:
- The rating scale used is always visible to the right of the review form as it is completed
- Ratings can be configured so that one or both parties can provide a rating
- Rating scales are set at Section level
- When ratings are added to an Overview of objectives Section, completion is mandatory
Steps to create a custom rating scale
- Select Template builder from the Perform Administration menu:
- Create a new review template from scratch or Edit an existing review template
- Scroll to the Rating scales area. Select Create a new rating scale:
- Select the pencil icon to customise the new rating scale
- Add a Rating scale name. This is visible only to Perform Administrators. It helps identify the scale to use:
- Choose the number of values in the scale
- Specify the Introductory text. This text will appear above the rating scale when seen in a review
- Add a description for each value on the Rating scale. (Select the + to add a further description if required):
- Select Save changes to save the new scale
The new scale is now created, and can be used to rate objectives, or, can be selected for a Step Section, and therefore will apply to all Number scale questions in that Step Section.
