In this article, we'll show how to create a new review template, ready for managers to assign reviews to one or more members of their team.
Review templates are created in the 'Template builder'. Only Perform Administrators have access to this area. Perform administrators create, copy, edit, and publish review templates, at which point they become available for managers. Review templates can be archived when they're no longer needed.
Review templates can be duplicated and edited as required. Reviews can be set to auto-reassign once signed off. This is based on the date of completion for each individual review, not according to a strict calendar timescale shared by all your people.
Steps to create a review template
- Select Template builder from the Perform Administration menu:
- Select New review template
- In Review header, add a title. The title is visible to administrators and managers. It's often used as a unique reference for different versions of a template, for example, FY25 Annual review, FY26 Annual review, etc:
- In Review header, add a display name. The display name is visible to reviewees/reviewer when completing the review
- Choose auto reassignment options:
- Choose Reminder notifications. If selected, reminders will be sent to both reviewee and reviewer. Note that the template must include a sign-off section for this to work:
- Scroll to the end of the page, and Save:
What next?
Now the template is created, the next step is to add Sections to the template. Sections can include an overview of objectives, learning, and Development activities, as well as your own custom questions and rating scales.
