Learn - Create a Document Upload Lesson

In this article, we'll guide you on creating a document upload Lesson, a valuable tool for learners to submit external training certificates and other evidence for completion. This is particularly useful for documenting external training achievements and ensuring compliance, such as induction requirements.

Accepted file types are: PDF, JPG, BMP and DOCX.

Maximum file size: 15MB

Background

Document Upload Lessons are typically used for learners to submit evidence of training completed outside of Learn, such as certificates for external courses like First Aid or professional qualifications (e.g., CIPD). These Lessons are considered complete when learners upload the required evidence.

Steps to create a document upload Lesson

1. Browse to the 'Lesson' area of admin home:
2. Select 'New':
3. Select the Lesson Type 'Document Upload.' Be cautious, as the Lesson Type cannot be changed once created:
4. Add in a 'Title, this needs to clearly convey the purpose of the Document Upload Lesson to inform the learner:
5. Add in 'Instructions for the learner', this  should clearly convey the purpose of the Document Upload Lesson to inform the learner
6. Add in a 'Code'. This is only visible to administrators
7. Add in a Category. This is only visible to administrators. While Lesson Category is optional, using categories helps organise content as more Lessons are added to Learn
8. Select 'Create' to save

The Document Upload Lesson is now created and can be linked to Courses as required.
