In this article, we'll show how a manager can set an objective for one or more team members. We'll also show how to connect an objective to a global objective, to evidence how personal objectives contribute to achieving the overall organistions goals.
A few things to know about objectives:
- Managers can set objectives for their direct reports only
- Team members can also create objectives for themselves
- Managers and team members can add comments and attach evidence to the objective
- Managers and team members can move the progress slider
- A summary of objectives can be added to a review form
- Objectives in a review form can appear with, and without, the option to add a rating
Each time a change is made to an objective, the other person can be sent a notification to advise a change has been made.
Steps to set an objective for one or more team members
Follow the steps below to create multiple identical objectives for your team. Once created, they can be amended individually for each team member if required.
- Select the My Team tab:
- Select New team objective (if an objective is for one team member only, it can be set directly by selecting ‘Check objectives for that team member)
- Set a due date for the objective:
- Select the checkbox for each team member who should get this objective
- Enter a title and description for the objective:
- Select Connect+ to link the objective to a global objective (if this step is not required, skip to step 8):
- Scroll through the Global objectives. Select Connect when you find the right one. Note that an objective can be linked to one global objective only
- Select Close
- Select Save
The objective is immediately set for all selected team members. An email notification will be sent to the team member(s) to let them know (if configured).
