What is a Pathway?
A Pathway is a sequence of Milestones, each containing a set of courses, that guides learners step by step through a program. Pathways are ideal for programs such as onboarding, leadership development, apprenticeships, or certification training. Instead of giving learners access to all courses at once,
Pathways break learning into manageable steps, making progress clear, structured, and achievable.
Why use pathways?
Pathways help learners understand exactly what to complete next, maintain motivation, and achieve learning outcomes efficiently. For administrators, Pathways reduce manual course assignments, ensure courses are completed in the correct sequence, and can automatically boost skills when milestones are completed.
Key concepts
Milestones are the building blocks
Milestones are the building blocks of a Pathway. Each milestone contains one or more courses, and learners must complete all courses in a milestone before unlocking the next. Milestones can be reused across multiple Pathways.

Assign as mandatory or optional learning
Pathways can be assigned as mandatory for specific groups of learners or made optional for broader discovery in catalogues.

Auto-boost a skill on Milestone completion
It is possible to configure a Pathway Milestone so that a specified skill is automatically awarded to learners upon completion. Note that it is also possible to auto-boost a skill on completion of a Lesson.

The learner experience
In this video, we'll walk through how learners experience Pathways. This includes how Pathways appear when they’re assigned as mandatory or optional learning, and how learners navigate them.
We’ll also show the learner’s overview screen, where they can see all milestones and the courses contained within each one.
