In this article, we explain how a manager or course tutor can approve a Competency Check after the User has initiated the Competency Check.
Users with a Competency Check are prompted to coordinate the check with their line manager or the Course tutor. The following steps describe how the line managers/course tutor complete the next actions.
Steps to sign off a competency check
- Managers - select 'Competency Checks' from the 'My Team' dashboard view:
- Course Tutors - select 'Competency Checks' from the home screen menu options:
- Find the required Competency Check - there may be several waiting for attention so identify the correct User
- Select 'Start Check'
- Review the assessed task description and select 'Pass' or 'Fail':
- Select 'Save' to submit
Can the result be added at a later date after observations?
If you have to finish the Competency Check at a different time after the observation, you can enter the completion date to show when it was actually done. For more details on this, refer to article 'Allowing Competency check dates to be set to when the actual check was completed'
What if the Manager is also set as Course Tutor?
If a manager also acts as the course tutor, they'll access the competency check either through the My Team dashboard or the Course Tutor menu option. The Competency Check will be visible in only one of these areas, so it might be necessary to check both to find it.
What are the next steps if the check is marked as 'Fail'?
If the check is marked as 'Fail', consider follow-up actions, like reassigning the check for another attempt, and implementing actions based on the initial findings of the competency check.
