Mapping learning to Skills is key for organisations aiming to become Skills-led, but manually tagging large amounts of content is time-consuming. With AI, you can automate this process and save time.
In this article, we'll show how to use AI bulk tagging to quickly associate Lessons with relevant Skills. This helps empower learners with a clearer understanding of their Skill development and identifies new upskilling opportunities.
We'll cover:
Steps to enable AI bulk tagging
In line with our Use of AI in Our Products policy, we prioritise transparency when AI is used. Therefore, to use AI-powered tagging suggestions, you must first enable this feature. Once enabled, our system analyses your Skills, lesson titles, and descriptions to generate AI-driven suggestions.
- Browse to Learn admin
- Select Skills Library from the Skills drop-down menu:
- Select the toggle 'Use AI to help me assign Skills to Lessons':
- Once enabled, you will see the progress of the AI working. The time for this to be completed is dependent on how many Skills and lessons you have. However, it is a quick process:
- Once ready, you will now get the option to use assigned skills using AI:
How to tag Lessons with Skills using AI
Up to 20 lessons can be tagged at a time. Follow the steps below.
- Browse to a Lesson
- Select Assign Skills from the Lesson Administration menu
- Select the Lessons you want to tag with Skills
- Select Assign Skills to proceed:
- Review the AI-generated Skill suggestions. You can manually remove any suggested Skills you don’t want to associate with the Lessons. If needed, you can also type in additional Skills manually. If a Lesson already has existing Skill tags, these will be displayed on the review page for reference. Suggested AI Skills can be identified through the AI sparkle icon:
- Once you're satisfied with the Skill tags, select Assign Skills again to finalise - you can repeat this process to tag more Lessons as needed
What AI technology is being used?
Our feature uses Azure OpenAi technology, with strict safeguards in place to protect your data privacy. Your Skills library, Lesson titles and Lesson descriptions are the only data used to generate recommendations. The AI does not look at the specific lesson content. No Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is shared with Azure OpenAI.
Once this AI feature is enabled, we will pre-process this information by converting it into vector embeddings, which allow the system to measure the relevance of Skills to Lessons. This process is automatically triggered whenever a skill is added, deleted, or edited, ensuring that recommendations remain accurate and up to date.
Importantly, the model does not retain, learn from, or make any information available to other Users. Your data is exclusively used for generating responses within your own environment and is not stored or shared externally.
