In this article, we'll show how to filter the Learning progress report to include results for Users that started in the last 90 days only. This may be useful, for example, to see how new starters are progressing with onboarding training.
Then, we'll:
- Explain how to interpret the summary metrics
- Consider other filtering options to identify learning progress for new starters
- Signpost options to export, save, and share the results with your colleagues
To answer this question, we'll use the Learning progress report. Note that by default, the Learning Progress report is pre-set to include mandatory Course assignments only. View this article to see how to switch to view optional assignments.
Steps to see learning progress for Users that started in the last 90 days
- Open the Learning progress report
- Find the 'Days since User start date' filter
- In the 'Show items where the value' drop-down menu, select is less than
- Add the required number of days. For this example, we'll specify 90 days:
- Select Apply filter. The report will now be filtered to show results only for Users who started in the last X days
How to interpret the summary metrics
In the above example, the summary metrics look like this:
The 'People' summary metric shows that there are 3 people who started in the last X days. None of the three Users has completed all assigned Courses:
The 'Courses' summary metric shows that in total, 9 Courses are assigned to the three people. However, none of the 9 Courses have been completed by all 3 Users:
The 'Course assignments' summary metric shows that there are collectively 16 Course assignments, only 1 of which is complete:

Other filtering options
Visual level filters
To apply further filters to a table visual select anywhere on the table surround to activate visual-level filters:
Filter by Group membership
New starters may be assigned Courses through membership of a dedicated 'new starter training' Group. If that's the case, the report could also be filtered to show results by a specific Group only. Search 'Group' in the filter list to see available filters:
Note that the above filters apply to all report pages. Filters can also be applied to a specific visual.
See How to handle learning activity for new starters for advice about how to assign new starter and repeat training.
Filter by a User field
Learn LMS includes 20 User information fields that can be used to contain information entirely unique to your organisation.
These fields are typically populated and maintained by the Automated people-data feed from your HR data source; however, they can also be added and managed by your Learn admin team.
Some customers set up a User information field to identify if a User is on probation (Y/N) and select that User field as a filter in a report.
Export, save, and share the results
Now you have the results, what next?
- Save and share a report view
- Organise report views into groups
- Export a table visual straight to Excel
To print the screen straight to PDF, select CNTRL+P. Alternatively, use a snipping tool to grab a specific area.
