In this article, we'll show how to track and review progress with an objective. Individuals can create objectives for themselves, or a manager can create objectives for one or more members of their team.
We'll also cover how an objective summary looks when included in a review.
Track and update objective progress
Make it a habit to regularly review and update progress, and you'll save lots of prep time when reviews come up. Here's a summary of the options for managing and updating objectives:
1 | Edit the objective. Change the title, due date, and description. Note that this will trigger a notification to the other party |
2 | Archive the objective. Once archived, an objective can be unarchived |
3 | Make a self-created objective private. A Manager will not be able to see the objective and it will not appear in a review form |
4 | Connect to a global objective - an organisational goal. This demonstrates how an individual objective contributes to overarching company goals |
5 | Select the date to toggle between 'days until due' and the actual due date |
6 | Drag and reorder objectives in the My objectives area, for example to reflect priority or days until due |
7 | Select the title of an objective to add an update. For example, to add a comment, attach a document such as a PDF or a PowerPoint |
8 | Drag the slider to show progress toward achieving the objective |
When the objective title is selected, the full conversation around the objective is visible:
How an objective summary looks when included in a review
A summary of objectives can appear in a review form, with the option to add a rating. All commentary and evidence added to the objective will be shown. During the review, the reviewer and the reviewee can add comments to the overall 'objective summary' section:
