In this article, we'll show you how to promote up to 3 Courses at the top of the Learn home page. This is a great way to build awareness of key optional learning, or to promote mandatory learning.
If a user is part of multiple Groups that have course promotions, they will see multiple courses and can select the 'Show all' drop-down to see all promotions.
A few things to know about Course promotions:
- Up to three courses can be promoted on the homepage
- Each 'promotion' can be assigned to up to three Groups
- Administrators can set the priority of the promoted courses
- If no Groups are selected, the Course will be assigned to the All Users Group
- If a promoted Course is not visible to a User (either as mandatory or optional learning) then they will not see the promotion
Steps to promote a Course
- Browse to the 'Course' area of Learn admin
- Select 'Promote a Course':
- Select 'Add new promotion':
- Type into the 'Course' field, the name of the Course you would like to promote:
- The 'Promotion title' will be the name of the promoted Course. This can be edited if required.
- The 'Promotion description' will be the first 113 characters of the Course description. It may be necessary to edit the text to fit within the character limit
- In the 'Assign to groups' field, type the name of the first Group to which the Course should be promoted. Repeat to add up to two more Groups. If no Groups are selected, the Course will be visible to all users:
- Select the 'Submit' button to save the changes
- Select 'Back' to return to the 'Course Promotion' screen. To promote a second Course, repeat steps 3 to 8, above
Edit, delete, and reorder promoted Courses
Where multiple Courses are promoted, the 'Course Promotion' screen will look like this:
Note that promotions can be reorderd using the Up and Down arrows. This determines the order in which Users will see the promoted Courses. It is also possible to Edit and Delete Course promotions.
