Sapling's dashboard is a powerful way to get instant visibility over four key pieces of the employee lifecycle: Team members, Open tasks, Open documents and Pending approvals. Each dashboard offers information about all team members in each phase, giving you instant insight into their progress in completing all necessary tasks/documents.

Team member onboarding view
The Onboarding view gives you an overview of all of your newest team members who have begun the onboarding process.
Navigate to Administration Tools > Dashboard > Onboarding. Use the dropdown menu to ensure you have Onboarding selected in the menu.
All new team members are automatically shown in the onboarding dashboard when they have: outstanding onboarding tasks/documents that need to be completed or a start date that's less than 14 days ago.
When a new hire is shown on the dashboard, there are six possible stages they will be categorized into:
- Invited: When the new hire has been sent an invitation to Sapling, but has not yet clicked the link and begun preboarding.
- Preboarding: This is when a new hire has started preboarding, but is not finished with their preboarding experience.
- Pre-Start: When new hires have completed preboarding activities, but have not had their first day.
- 1st Week: New team member's first week of employment.
- 1st Month: Days 8 - 30 of activity.
- Ramping Up: Day 30+. New hires will only remain on the dashboard if they have not completed their new hire documents and tasks. (*Please note: once they do complete all new hire documents and tasks, they will then be moved to the Active stage and leave the onboarding view.)
Use the search filters to adjust your results by the six stages outlined above.
Team members transition view
As opposed to the Onboarding and Offboarding views, the Transition view gives visibility overall active employee transitions. Commonly, this covers transitions like promotions, relocations, team changes, or manager changes.
Navigate to Administration Tools > Dashboard > Transition. Use the filters to view Transitions by Department, Location, or Employee Stage (i.e. First year, Second year, etc).
1st Year and over: Team members will show up on the Transitions view when they are in the Active stage and have new Tasks or Documents to complete.
For example, Nil still has Task X to complete on day 15, they remain on the Onboarding view, sitting in their "1st Month" stage. Then another task (Task O) is assigned in addition to Task X. If Nil completes Task X and leaves Task O pending, they will still remain on the Onboarding view and progress to their "Ramping Up" stage after 30 days. Once they complete Task O, they will leave the onboarding view and move to the Active stage.
While Nil is in the Active stage, if they are assigned a new Task, they will appear on the Transitions view sitting in their "1st Year" stage.

Team members offboarding view
The Offboarding view gives you an overview of all individuals that are exiting your organization. Once you have begun the offboarding process, individuals in this dashboard will be automatically removed after the completion of all of their documents and tasks, and 14 days after their last day has passed.
Navigate to Administration Tools > Dashboard > Offboarding.
When an individual is shown on the dashboard, there are three possible stages they will be categorized into:
- Offboarding: The individual has a scheduled termination date more than 1 month away.
- Last Month: The individual is in their last month at the organization.
- Last Week: The individual is in their last week at the organization.
- Departed: Will show individuals who have departed in the last 14 days.
Note that:
- Users will no longer appear in the dashboard when all relevant tasks are fully completed.
- The offboarding dashboard stages are based on the employee's Termination Date (the last official date of employment), rather than the Last Day Worked (i.e. the last day the new hire gets assigned a task in Sapling).
Open tasks view
The Open tasks view gives you an overview of all open vs. overdue tasks that have been assigned to your team members.
Navigate to Administration Tools > Dashboard > Open tasks. Use the tab buttons to switch between Open and Overdue items. Click on Actions for more options such as bulk completion of task or task viewing.
Open documents view
The Open documents view gives you an overview of all open vs. overdue documents that have been assigned to your team members.
Navigate to Administration Tools > Dashboard > Open documents. Use the tab buttons to switch between Open and Overdue items.
Use the quick action menu on the right of each document to view details about that document or send a reminder email to the document assignee.
Pending approvals view
The Pending approvals view gives you an overview of all outstanding change requests made to key employee data stored in the Job Details tab (i.e. compensation, role, job title, etc.)
Navigate to Administration Tools > Dashboard > Pending approvals. Use the tabs and tab buttons to switch between Profile or Job Details changes and Upcoming or Historical changes.
Use the quick action menu on the right of each approval to view details about the approval chain or send a reminder email to the next approver.
