In this article, we'll explain the main uses of the Lesson History dataset.
The Lesson history dataset is designed to help you look back at the history of each User interaction with a Lesson. Note that it is not a dataset for reporting compliance. Instead, it is there to show volumes of Lesson activity.
How is it different to the Learning Progress dataset?
The Lesson History dataset provides insights into Lesson activity but does not track compliance. It is specifically designed to display the history of Lessons Users have completed. For compliance reporting, consider using the Fixed Learning Progress report or starting a new report using the Learning Progress dataset.
What can the Lesson history dataset be used for?
In reporting, each interaction is known as a Lesson 'use'. For example, if a learner views a Lesson five times, they will have five Lesson 'uses' for the Lesson. With the Lesson history dataset, you can look back at Lesson uses. For example, to show how many times a learner accessed a learning module or the number of times they failed before passing it.
Among the things you could do with the dataset are the following:
- Track detailed User learning activity, including multiple interactions with a Lesson
- Summarise Lesson usage volumes at User, Lesson or Course level
- Pinpoint specific metrics such as Competency check passes and Lesson failures
- Track an individual User's progress from failure to Lesson completion
