In this article we'll take a short tour of the Power BI interface you’ll see when you create a new report in Kallidus Reporting and Analytics. We'll cover:
- How the panels on the right of the screen give access to Data, Filtering, Visualisations, and more
- How to switch on additional features such as gridlines and snap-to-grid
- Where to find options to format a Visualisation
The main report area
When a new report opens the main page will be blank - this is the canvas onto which your report will be built. The message will invite you to build visuals with your data. This is where you'll add Visualisations such as Table, Chart, Matrix, and Card to build your report.
The Filters, Visualisations and Data panels
This is where you'll spend most of your time when you start a new report from scratch. As the name suggests, the Filters panel is used to apply filters to the a Visualisation, a report page, or the all report pages. View the 'Filters' section in the Knowledgebase for more information about Filters.
The Visualisations panel lists all the different kinds of visuals that might be added to the main report page. It's also where formatting options for Visualisations can be found. The most common types of Visualisation are Table, Chart, Matrix, and Card.
The Data panel, contains all the data items and data folders. When you start a new report you'll be prompted to select a Dataset. The Dataset selected will determine the Data folders available and the Data Fields they contain.
