When a candidate initially registers themselves in Recruit, they are assigned a Person type of Internal or Direct, depending on whether they register in the Internal portal or the External portal. Any time they log in and make subsequent applications, those applications will be considered Internal or External depending on the Person type assigned during that initial registration.
For this reason, once an external candidate has been hired, Recruiters may wish to change their Person type from Direct to Internal, so that any subsequent applications for roles within your organisation will be treated as Internal applications.

Changing an applicant from Direct to Internal
To change your new hire’s Recruit account from External to Internal:
- Locate them on the Candidates tab in the Hired folder
- Select View candidate file
- Select the Edit application tab
- Select Edit account details
- Select Change user type, set this person as Internal,
- Select to Save
Now, any future applications made by this candidate using the same email address will be treated as Internal applications.
Please note, there is another Person type , Agency, which is assigned to candidates submitted by Recruitment agents. This cannot be changed, but if an agent candidate subsequently applies as external or internal, a new external or internal account is created as described above.
