Why are you doing this?
Many organisations need their learners to take their online training on mobile devices, as they have limited access to desktop, or need ‘in the flow of work’ training. Easier access to learning as and when the learner has time to do it also promotes a continuous learning culture within organisations.
Easier access to Kallidus eLearning on a mobile device also delivers a seamless experience launching courses from Learn, which is already mobile responsive.
The new content will also be more accessible, giving equal learning opportunity to all.
When will the courses be upgraded?
The first set of 5 UK and 5 US courses to upgrade will launch end 2022. The rest of the library will be upgraded in batches over the next several months – until the entire library becomes usable on any device.
Will my LMS admin manager need to do anything?
No - we will give you plenty of notice that a course is due to be upgraded, and on release day the course will simply open in its upgraded form.
*Please note that ‘in-progress’ data cannot be transferred, so learners need to have either completed the course already, or not started it. You may wish to send some internal comms about this.*
Will the courses still have the auto-translation and the Course Editor?
Yes, they will.
Will there be any new features?
We plan to start work on some exciting new features soon after the first courses launch, to roll out during 2023.
All our new courses will be built in the new mobile responsive format.
How long will it take for all Kallidus eLearning courses to be in the new format?
Our full library consists around 230 courses, across UK and US. We don’t have a confirmed date for when the full library will be upgraded, but the new format makes it quicker for us to upgrade existing courses and release new ones, so we will be speeding along.
Does this mean you'll be releasing more bitesize content?
Yes, we’ll be increasing our bitesize offer, as it’s easier to consume on mobile and delivers better value to learners.
Kallidus eLearning is really good quality with lots of in-depth content - won't detail be lost?
We’re ensuring our high quality learning content won’t suffer in any way. But we’re also reviewing all our learning design and interactions, to make sure we really focus on embedding behaviour change.
Will you still be releasing new courses during this time?
Yes, all in the new format.
When will Kallidus eLearning work with the Learn app?
We will start working on this once we've gone live with the first set of upgraded courses, and plan to have this ready by Spring 2023.
Will the new Course Editor be very different to use?
It offers similar functionality and will be even easier to use than the current Editor. We'll create a guide for you to use, but we think you may not even need that!
What about my edited courses - will they be upgraded too?
For customers who have made edits to the courses being upgraded, we’re offering to add your edits back in for you, free of charge. You’ll need to ask us to do this, and send us the assets you would like re-added. The new Editor will be released at the same time as the upgrades are released, so you can also decide to add your edits yourself if you wish.
When will the old Editor and player be retired?
We expect to retire the old Editor and player from general use once the programme is complete. We don't have a date for this yet but will give plenty of advance notice.
What if I want to stick with the current courses?
If you want to stay with the existing courses, we can manually adjust your licence so it picks up the old content. Learners would need to re-start the old content.
Please note that we will only apply updates to new content, once launched, so the old content will begin to get out of date and you may be better moving to the new content sooner rather than later.
What about my customised courses – will they be upgraded?
We currently plan to maintain the current player for your customised courses. Please contact your Customer Experience Manager if you are interested in getting your courses upgraded (there is a charge for this).
