Data extraction enables customers to pull reporting data out of Kallidus and into their internal data lakes, warehouses, and BI tools. Once extracted, customers can transform and analyse the data however they choose.
This is powerful as it enables customers to:
- Work with data in more flexible ways better aligned to internal practices
- Streamline data management and reporting across the organization
- Correlate L&D data with cross-organizational data and business outcomes
Our Data Extraction API is a modern and scalable solution for bulk transfer of reporting data (not live data), and a great alternative for customers who are don't wish to use SFTP. Data can be pulled into a customer's internal Power BI instance using Power Query’s built-in API connector, or into any other BI tool that supports API connectivity (eg. Tableau, Snowflake).
Please note that data extraction pulls out entire datasets, not tailored reports. Data extraction provides the ingredients needed to bake a cake – not the cake itself.
Use Cases
- Reporting across multiple Kallidus datasets at once, for example, reporting on learning progress and accreditation details
- Implementing a custom data security model, as the Kallidus security model may be too simple/strict
- Preference for static reports over interactive dashboards, where exportable table-style reports may be sufficient
- Capturing data “snapshots” for point-in-time reporting, such as archiving historical data for future audits
- Overcoming row limitations on manual report exports, as there is a 150,000 row export limit in Kallidus Reporting
- Consolidating data management by dedicated teams, ensuring data is stored, processed, governed consistently across the organization
- Standardizing reports across the organization by leveraging existing frameworks and templates to improve reporting speed and accuracy
- Reporting on data from multiple sources across the organization, correlating learning data against business outcomes to track and prove L&D impact
