In this article, we’ll show how to export a Table Visualisation to Excel from a Power BI report. When it's time to export data, there are two options - 'data with current layout', and 'summarised data'.
Data with current layout
With this option, you'll get a simple unformatted table with the same layout as in Power BI. All formatting present in Power BI is removed. The export will look like this:
Summarised data
A summarised export will retain any filters applied to the Table Visualisation. Rows will be colour-coded, and pre-built filters will be applied to columns. It will include the summarized data used to create your visual (for example, sums, averages, and medians). The export will look like this:
Note that a maximum of 150,000 rows can be exported at a time so before exporting data, we recommend filtering the report to show just the information you need. This will also make the export much easier to work with.

Steps to export a table visualisation to Excel
- Click to select a Table Visualisation

Select the 3 dots in the top right of the table (hover over the table if the dots are not visible):
- Select Export data
- Choose a data export option:
- Select Export. The data will appear in the downloads folder on your computer
