Considering a coffee chat roulette for Learning at Work Week?
Hello Community! 👋
Looking for an easy way to spark learning and connection during Learning at Work Week?
Â
I suggest giving coffee chat roulette a go! It's a quick, informal win that works just as well for hybrid and remote teams.
Â
☕ What is coffee chat roulette?
It’s simple: participants are randomly paired for a short chat (15 minutes), just long enough to drink a coffee (other beverages are available).
No slides, no prep- Â just a quick conversation about their role in the business.
It’s great for:
- Meeting people outside your usual team
- Sharing knowledge and perspectives
-
Building connections across the organisation
Â
☕ How to set up a coffee chat roulette
-
Ask people to opt in and gather their names
Keep it voluntary and low‑pressure. -
Randomly pair participants
Manually, via spreadsheet, or using a simple pairing tool. -
Send out, or encourage them to make, calendar appointments
15–30 minutes makes it easy to fit into busy diaries. -
Offer gentle prompts (optional)
- What’s something you’ve learned recently?
- What’s a skill you use that others might not realise?
- What’s one tip you’d share with someone new?
-
Encourage people to grab a coffee and chat ☕
That’s it!Â
💡 Pro Tip
You could even use an Event in Learn to let people sign up, making it easy to see who’s interested. From there, you can export the data to a csv if you needed to shuffle the pairs and it'll help you understand engagement across teams while keeping the activity informal and fun.
Sometimes the best learning happens in a conversation. ☕✨
