We're getting 2019 started with a quick minor release which is primarily focused on a few improvements for clients using multi-lingual candidate portals.
Visibility of notifications has also been improved, so if you have any new or unread notifications, the pop-up will open automatically when you first login. Just click the link in the pop-up to mark notifications as read if you want it to not show again for the same notification(s) the next time you login.
These updates will be rolled out to clients starting from tomorrow (15 January). Keep an eye out for notifications to know when the update has been deployed to your system.
Also - don't forget to read about the forthcoming Backoffice rebrand, so you can start to prepare for that change as well.
Candidate portal
Multi-lingual enhancements
The following areas of the candidate portal may now also be translated into other languages:
- The "General profile" link (visible to logged in candidates in systems with the registration of interest/speculative applications module enabled)
- Page titles for brochure pages
- Job alert category names
- "+Add your file" text and "File attached" text in document upload controls
- Additional custom navigation items in both the main top navigation, all areas of the side navigation and the footer navigation
- The "Social" label in the page footer
Improvements to language switching behaviour when logged in
A number of changes have been made related to users switching between different languages when logged in.
Firstly, switching language in the top menu will change the user's preferred default language (as selected on the account details page). Selecting a different language on the account details page will now also change the selection in the main language selector menu.
Secondly, candidates will always be switched to their preferred language on logging in, regardless of which language is selected in the main language selector menu prior to logging in.
The Update account details, Job alerts, Registration of interest and Talent bank forms will now behave as expected if a user switches languages when logged in, with all fields and field values switching to the newly selected language, whilst maintaining any talent pool preference selections.
Multi-lingual auto-complete field search functionality
The search functionality for auto-complete fields will now work as expected and return matching results, based on the currently selected language. Previously, although displaying translated items, the search was only searching the English terms.
Improvements to the support of renamed talent pool classification items
If options used for talent pool classification are renamed, candidate profiles will now maintain the selection of renamed items. Previously, this would result in the renamed item no longer being selected for candidates editing their profile.
Backoffice
Unread notifications will now pop-up automatically on login
New notifications were previously indicated by displaying or incrementing the number on the Notifications (bell) icon at the top-right of the screen. It has become evident that this isn't obvious enough for some users.
To improve visibility of notifications, the notifications pop-up will now open automatically when a user first logs in if there are any new or unread notifications.
This will only happen once in each browser session, however, if users do not click the link in the pop-up to mark messages as read, the pop-up will open again in subsequent browser sessions.
Addressed an issue related to visibility of Person data
An issue has been resolved where Person data, e.g. candidate address was not visible in Backoffice views, reports or in Analytics under certain circumstances.
Improved error handling associated with incorrectly generated or missing user avatars
Where a user avatar is either missing or incorrectly generated, Timeline pages will no longer cause an error. Previously, this would result in the user being unexpectedly logged out of the system.
System Builder / Configuration
New pre-flight check to warn users when a vacancy feed has been added, but is not configured correctly
This scenario would previously cause errors in publishing a system, without the reason for the error being obvious. Users will now be notified if a feed is added, but where the configuration of the feed is not complete.
Bulk requisition template import improvements
Enhancements have been made to the error handling in the requisition template import tool, in line with similar improvements recently made to the bulk user import functionality.
Users will now be informed when column headings don't match what is expected or if the number of columns in the data does not match the number of headings.
