This article describes how accreditations/repeat learning works. This is useful if you are a new administrator or new to using accreditations and want to find out more about them.
What is an Accreditation?
Accreditation is like a badge or certificate that proves you've learned something, and it often has to happen regularly, like every year.
For example, if you want to be a Fire Warden, you need to do Fire Warden training every year. If you don't, you'll lose your Fire Warden badge (accreditation).
To keep your badge, you might have to complete a 'Fire Safety' course every year. This way, everyone knows you know what to do to keep things safe.
Accreditations link to lessons.
Steps to create an Accreditation
This involves creating and rolling out learning.
- Start by making a Course with a Lesson and then assigning it to Learners
- Usually, Courses are given to a specific Group. This means that everyone in the Group must take the Course. For instance, we might create the 'Fire Safety for Wardens' Course and assign it to the Fire Wardens Group, like this:
Steps to create an linking the Accreditation to learning and Learners
This is where you decide what learning links to the Accreditation and also who needs to complete it.
Now, we need to connect this Accreditation to:
- The users who have to complete and repeat the training.
- The learning material they'll use for this purpose.
For this example the Accreditation must, therefore, be linked to the ‘Fire Safety for Fire Wardens’ Lesson, and to the Fire Wardens Group, like this:
This makes sure that only the learners in the Fire Wardens Group need to redo the training.
If a user leaves the Fire Wardens Group, they won't be given the Accreditation anymore, which means they won't be reminded to redo the training every 12 months.
