In this article, we'll explain how an administrator can change a user's password manually. Sometimes this is necessary if a user can't use the 'forgotten password' link on the login screen.
If the 'forgotten password' link isn't active and you need it for user self-service, contact Support to add it to your site.
Note: The below steps apply to customers with the IDS3 version of the Kallidus authenticator. If you are unsure if you have identity server IDS3 or the latest version (IDS6) please see the article 'How to tell which version of Identity Server you have, IDS3 or the latest version (IDS6)'.
Steps to manually reset a password in IDS3
Follow the steps below for how to manually reset a password in IDS3:
- Browse to the User area of Learn admin:
- Select the User that the password need to be changed for. Use the Search fields to refine the list of Users if required or scroll down the list of Users:
- Select Edit from the User's Details page view:
- A pop up window appears. Select Change:
- Enter the new password:
- Confirm the new password by reentering it
- Select the tick box for 'Force password reset on next log in' if required
- Select Change to save and submit the new password. If the User has an email linked to their account they will now receive an auto generated email about the new password. If not, contact the User directly to advise of the changed password.
Your organisation determines password complexity when Learn is first configured. If necessary, contact support to make changes.
