To ensure we continue to serve our customers, we need to complete a security update to our BusinessObjects reporting tool. This latest security update also includes a new look and feel. This will ensure we can continue to support BusinessObjects while our customers adopt our new Reporting solution built on Microsoft Power BI embedded technologies.
What's changing?
There are a number of improvements to security and stability included in the 4.3 update, which means we will be able to support customers while they continue to adopt our new Reporting solution powered by Microsoft Power BI Embedded technologies.
Additionally, the SAP BusinessObjects 4.3 update contains some changes to usability. The main ones being:
- Simplified filters, based on your input controls
- Tabs are now located at the top of the screen
- Dimensions are now found on a right hand pane in Design Mode
- Improved variable creation screen
- UI enhancements to make the application more appealing
- Improved security for SFTP report transfer
Watch this video to see an overview of these changes.
Simplified filtering experience
SAP have added a simplified filtering experience to BusinessObjects 4.3, that aligns the filters available on screen to the input controls used in the report. You can see an overview of how to update these here.
Improved SFTP Report Transfer facilities
BusinessObjects 4.3 includes improved security around SFTP transfer of your data from BusinessObjects to other systems. This may require you to update your SFTP Fingerprint to align to SHA-2 standards.
We will complete this task where you use a Kallidus SFTP location, but customers who use their own location will need to complete the steps listed here.
When is this change happening?
We updated BusinessObjects to version 4.3 on 28th January 2025. This update meant that BusinessObjects was unavailable on this date. BusinessObjects was available again on 29th January.
If you had reports scheduled to run, these will not have run while BusinessObjects was unavailable, but will have run once the BusinessObjects update was completed.
